Handmade Wood Salt and Pepper Shakers

These shakers start with a mix of wood types. We fit them together into patterns of stripes, bands, and blocks, so no two sets look the same. Some are tall and slim, some are short and stout, and the letters come in more than one style.

They look right at home on a dining table or next to the stove, and they make an easy gift for a housewarming, a wedding, or the holidays.

Sizes and Styles

Because each set is built from the wood on hand, sizes vary. Expect a pair between about 2.5 and 5 inches tall, and 1.5 to 2.5 inches wide and deep. The photos show a range of sets we have made, and each new set will have its own pattern and colors.

Make It Yours

Choose an epoxy color for each letter from the dropdowns above. Unless you pick something else, the S is white and the P is black. If you want a color that is not listed, choose Other and describe it; a color you describe makes the set a custom order, which is final sale.

A standard order lets us choose the wood from what we have in the shop. If you would like a specific size or specific wood types, we are glad to do it. Choose that option above and request a written estimate through Custom Work. Nothing is charged or built until the estimate is accepted.

Materials and Construction

We choose a mix of woods from the shop, glue up the pieces, and shape each block. The S and P are carved on our CNC and filled with epoxy. The center is bored all the way through with a 3/4-inch Forstner bit, and a flat plug 3D printed from flexible TPU filament closes the bottom.

Care and Keeping

Wipe the shakers with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth, and dry them right away. Do not soak them or put them in the dishwasher, and keep them away from standing water and long hours of direct sun. Keep the inside dry, since moisture will clump salt and pepper alike.

Build Time, Shipping, and Delivery

Every piece is made to order, and shipping time is in addition to the build time. A firm date, such as a birthday or holiday, can be shared when ordering, and we will say honestly whether we can meet it; we do not guarantee rush work.

We pack every piece carefully for the trip. A gift can ship directly to the recipient when the details are shared. We are a private shop, so we do not offer pickup or workshop visits. Full order terms are in our Terms of Sale.

Good to Know

No two are alike. Wood grain, color, knots, and figure vary from piece to piece, so your set will not match these photos exactly. That variation is the mark of a handmade piece, not a defect. These photos show sets we made earlier; each new set is built to the order’s details.

A standard set ordered without personalization can be returned unused within 30 days. Custom and personalized pieces are final sale. If anything arrives damaged, contact us with photos of the piece and packaging and we will make it right. A 7% sales tax is added at checkout.
