About Vern's Sawdust and Spirits

Why Vern?

Vern is my family nickname, not the name on my birth certificate. When the woodworking needed a name, Vern's was the obvious place to start.

After a long workday, I would head to the garage, have a beer, and relax by building something. There was sawdust, there were spirits, and over time there were enough finished pieces for the hobby to grow into a small business.

The Charleston Woodworking Shop

I have been woodworking for five years. I work from a private garage shop, which lets me take on pieces that fit my tools, space, schedule, and the way I work.

Woodworking stays at the center. Computer Numerical Control carving, laser engraving, epoxy resin, and three-dimensional printing give me additional ways to add lettering, detail, repeatable shapes, color, fixtures, or selected parts when the project calls for them. Most projects are for customers in and around Charleston, with free local delivery available within 50 miles for qualifying orders, and shipping arranged for pieces further out.

My military service and law-enforcement experience shaped how I approach responsibility, clear communication, and details that matter to the person receiving the piece. Those backgrounds are part of my experience; they are not a marketing endorsement or a substitute for showing the actual work.
