Walnut and Epoxy Spinning Magnetic Knife Block

$185.00

Walnut epoxy spinning magnetic knife block with white resin rivers and a rotating base. Four walnut panels, each with a flowing river of white epoxy, are joined into a tall column. We hide strong magnets behind every face to hold your knives by the blade, the top holds more, and the whole block turns on its base so the knife you want is always facing you. Solid walnut with white epoxy river inlays on every side. Turns 360 degrees on its base. Shop logo engraved underneath. Made to order, and the grain and handmade details vary from piece to piece.

Family name or monogram to engrave on the base or one face

Walnut Epoxy Spinning Magnetic Knife Block

A traditional knife block hides the blades and dulls them on the way in and out. A magnetic block shows them off and keeps the edges clear of the wood. This block does both jobs and looks good doing it.

Each side is a walnut panel with a curving river of white epoxy poured through it, so the block reads differently from every angle. Behind each face, a row of magnets holds knives by the flat of the blade. The column sits on a walnut base that rotates, so you can turn the block instead of reaching around it.

Features

Four magnetic faces hold a full set of knives. The epoxy river design runs a flowing white resin channel through each walnut panel. The rotating base spins smoothly on a hidden turntable bearing. The solid walnut panels carry a rich, dark grain with a hand-rubbed finish, and the shop logo is engraved on the bottom.

Make It Yours

Choose the river color (white, shown, black, blue, or another color on request), and add a family name or monogram engraved on the base or one face.

Materials and Construction

We start with walnut boards, cut a curving channel through each panel, and pour white epoxy into the gap. Once cured, the panels are planed flat so wood and resin sit flush. Pockets for the magnets are cut behind each face, the magnets are set and sealed, and the four panels are mitered and glued into a column. The column is mounted to a walnut base with a turntable bearing, sanded, and finished. Our logo is engraved on the bottom.

The Story Behind This Piece

This block started as four walnut boards, each with its own river of white resin. The pours did not have to match, and the variation is what makes the finished block interesting. Once the panels were joined, the rivers wrapped around the column like a stream around a stone.

Care and Keeping

Epoxy resin is hard and glossy, but it is not glass. Clean the resin and the wood with a soft cloth and a little mild soap and water, then dry. Skip abrasive pads, ammonia cleaners, and solvents, which can haze or scratch the surface. Keep the piece out of long hours of direct sunlight, because over time UV light can yellow clear resin and fade colored pours. Wipe the block with a damp cloth and dry it. Never put it in the dishwasher, and always dry knives before putting them back on the block.

Good to Know

Every piece is made to order, and the grain and handmade details vary from piece to piece. No two are alike, because wood grain, color, and figure vary from board to board, so the finished piece will not match these photos exactly. That variation is the mark of a handmade piece, not a defect. Hand-poured resin can show tiny bubbles, slight color shifts between layers, and gentle variation in the surface. These photos show a piece we made earlier, and each order is built new to its details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the magnets scratch knives?

The magnets are behind the wood, so the blade only touches smooth, finished walnut. Place knives flat against the face, and slide them off rather than pulling them straight out.

Are ceramic knives compatible?

No. Ceramic blades are not magnetic, so they will not stay on the faces, but they can go in the top.

Are knives included?

No. The knives in the photos are for display.

Will the design be seen before it is made?

Yes. After you order, ask for a digital proof in the order notes and we will send one showing the layout and lettering, and reasonable changes before approval are included.

Can this be ordered as a gift?

Yes. Tell us at checkout or in the message that it is a gift, include the date you need it by, and we can ship directly to the recipient.

Have something else in mind?

Tell us about the piece you are picturing and we will tell you honestly whether we can build it.
