Engraved Challenge Coin Display Rack

$65.00

Engraved challenge coin display rack gives an earned collection a place where every coin can be seen. This rack gives them a proper home. Four stepped rows of slots hold dozens of coins upright and visible, and a tall backboard is laser engraved with a message, rank insignia, and branch emblem. Built from solid oak, it sits on a desk, shelf, or mantel. Every piece is made to order, and no two are alike — grain, color, and figure vary from board to board, so your piece will not match these photos exactly. That variation is the mark of a handmade piece, not a defect.

Engraved Challenge Coin Display Rack

Engraved challenge coin display rack with artwork across the rows between the coins

Every coin in a collection marks something: a unit, a deployment, a commander’s thanks, a ceremony. This display is built so they can all be seen at once. The rows step up from front to back, so the coins in the last row stand above the ones in front instead of hiding behind them.

The backboard is the place to make it personal. The piece shown here reads “Home of the Free Because of the Brave,” with a Command Sergeant Major insignia in one corner and the U.S. Army seal in the other. We can also engrave artwork across the face of the rows, such as the parachutist badge, which shows between the coins and fills in as the collection grows.

Features

Four stepped rows of slots hold coins upright and visible.
Tall engraved backboard — a two-line message plus rank insignia and branch emblem.
Engraved row artwork — an optional design across the rows, visible between the coins.
Solid oak construction, glued and pinned for strength.
Sized for a desk, shelf, or mantel.
A longer or shorter rack, or more rows, can be quoted separately for very large or small collections.

Make It Yours

Backboard message — a phrase, a name and rank, or a unit motto.
Insignia and emblem — rank on one side and a branch seal, unit crest, or department badge on the other.
Row artwork — jump wings, a unit crest, a flag, or leave the rows plain.
Size — a longer or shorter rack, or more rows, quoted separately.

Materials and Construction

The rack is cut from solid oak. The base is milled flat and the coin slots are cut across it at a slight backward lean, so the coins rest against the slot wall instead of tipping forward. Each row steps up from the one in front of it.

The backboard is engraved on our laser before assembly, along with any artwork across the rows. Then the backboard is glued and pinned to the base, every edge is eased, and the piece is sanded smooth and finished with an oil and wax finish, such as Walrus Oil Furniture Butter.

The Story Behind This Piece

This rack was built to hold a Command Sergeant Major’s collection: the coin made for that career, and the dozens collected along the way. Seeing them lined up on one board is the whole point — a career’s worth of moments in one place.

Care and Keeping

This piece has an oil and wax finish that lets the grain show and the wood feel like wood. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe up spills soon after they happen. Keep it out of standing water, away from harsh cleaners, and out of long hours of direct sun, which can fade the color over time.

When the surface starts to look dry or dull, rub a small amount of furniture oil or wax into the wood with a clean cloth, let it sit a few minutes, and buff off the extra. Once or twice a year is plenty for most pieces.

Build Time, Shipping, and Delivery

Every piece is made to order. After you check out, we can email you a digital proof of the layout and lettering when you ask for one in the order notes; nothing is cut until you approve it. Layered epoxy and other finishing can take a little longer, so tell us about any firm date and we will say honestly whether we can meet it. We do not guarantee rush work.

If you order this as a gift, tell us at checkout or in your message and we can ship directly to the recipient. We pack every piece carefully for the trip. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address. For orders of $75 or more within 25 miles of Charleston, West Virginia, free local delivery may be available. We are a private shop, so we do not offer pickup or workshop visits.

Good to Know
