Personalized Walnut Pet Memorial Box
Losing a pet is losing family. This box is made to honor that. It is built from solid black walnut, a deep, dark hardwood with a quiet richness that suits a memorial. The corners are mitered so the grain wraps around the box, and a lid with a fitted lip lifts off cleanly.
What makes it theirs is the engraving. Send us an ink print of your pet’s paws, or a clear photo, and we will engrave their actual paw prints on either side of their name. Below the name, we can add a silhouette or portrait drawn from a photo. On the original box, the name sits between two paw prints, with a small silhouette of a dog below.
Features
- Solid black walnut — rich and dark, with mitered corners that wrap the grain.
- Lift-off lid — with a fitted lip so it sits securely.
- Real paw prints — engraved from your pet’s own ink print or photo.
- Name and portrait — the pet’s name plus an optional silhouette or portrait.
Make It Yours
- Pet’s name — in the script font shown or a font of your choice.
- Paw prints — from an ink print or photo you provide. We can mail a print kit; just ask.
- Portrait or silhouette — from a clear photo of your pet.
- Dates or a message — on the side, back, or underside of the lid.
Materials and Construction
The sides are mitered at the corners so the grain flows around the box, then glued and clamped with tape to pull every joint tight. The bottom is set into a groove, and the lid is cut with a lip that drops into the opening.
Paw prints are scanned from your ink print and cleaned up digitally, so the engraving shows every pad and toe. Everything is engraved on our laser, and the box is sanded and finished by hand.

The Story Behind This Piece
This box was made for a family’s dog. Before anything was cut, the family pressed the dog’s paws in ink on paper, and those prints became the engraving. Seeing the real prints on the finished box is what turns it from a nice wooden box into a memorial.
Care and Keeping
This piece has an oil and wax finish that lets the grain show and the wood feel like wood. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe up spills soon after they happen. Keep it out of standing water, away from harsh cleaners, and out of long hours of direct sun, which can fade the color over time.
When the surface starts to look dry or dull, rub a small amount of furniture oil or wax into the wood with a clean cloth, let it sit a few minutes, and buff off the extra. Once or twice a year is plenty for most pieces.
Build Time, Shipping, and Delivery
Every piece is made to order. After you check out, we can start cutting; if you ask for a digital proof of the layout and lettering in the order notes, we will send one first and wait for your go-ahead before we cut. Plan on a few days to two weeks for us to build and finish your piece, depending on the details; layered or complex work can take longer. Shipping time is in addition to the build time.
If you have a firm date, such as a retirement, birthday, or holiday, tell us when you order. We will tell you honestly whether we can meet it. We do not guarantee rush work.
We pack every piece carefully for the trip. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address. For orders of $75 or more within 25 miles of Charleston, West Virginia, free local delivery may be available. We are a private shop, so we do not offer pickup or workshop visits.
Good to Know
No two are alike — wood grain, color, knots, and figure vary from board to board, so your piece will not match these photos exactly. That variation is the mark of a handmade piece, not a defect.
These photos show a piece we made earlier — yours is built new, to your details.
Personalized pieces are final sale — because they are built to your details, custom and personalized items cannot be returned. If anything arrives damaged, contact us with photos of the piece and packaging and we will make it right.
Sales tax — West Virginia sales tax applies to orders delivered in West Virginia. Full order terms are at /terms-of-sale/.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get your pet’s paw prints? Press each paw onto an ink pad and then onto white paper, and send us a photo or scan. Many veterinarians and pet crematories will make a print for you. If you do not have one, we can work from a clear photo of the paw pad.
Will the ashes fit inside? Most cremains come in a sealed bag or small container that fits inside. Tell us your pet’s weight and we will confirm the size.
How long will it take? Plan on a few days to two weeks after you approve the design. If you need it sooner, please tell us; we understand these orders are often time-sensitive.
Will we see the design before it is made? If you ask for a digital proof in your order notes, we will send one showing the layout and lettering before we start cutting. Reasonable changes before approval are included.
Can you order this as a gift? Absolutely. Tell us at checkout or in your message if it is a gift, and include the date you need it by. We can ship directly to the recipient.
