These terms apply to orders placed through the online shop at vernswoodworking.com. They summarize the policies on our FAQ and Policies page, which has the full details. By placing an order, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Made to Order
Every piece is made to order in our private shop in Charleston, West Virginia. The photos in our listings show pieces we made earlier. Wood grain, color, knots, and figure vary from board to board, and epoxy resin can show small bubbles or slight color shifts, so your piece will not match the photos exactly. These are the marks of a handmade piece, not defects.
Personalization and Design Approval
We build personalized pieces from the details you enter when you order. If you would like a digital proof before we build, tell us in the order notes, and reasonable revisions can be made before you approve it. Once work begins, further revisions are not included, and a later change may be declined or may change the price and completion estimate.
If you ask us to include a logo, crest, emblem, or other artwork you supply, you confirm that you have permission to use it. We may decline protected material we cannot accept, as well as hate-based or racist content.
Prices, Payment, and Sales Tax
Prices are in U.S. dollars. Orders placed in the online shop are paid at checkout through PayPal, by PayPal or by debit or credit card. Never send card or account information through our inquiry form or by email.
West Virginia sales tax applies to orders delivered within West Virginia: 6% state tax, plus up to 1% local tax in some cities, including Charleston. Tax is calculated at checkout from your delivery address.
Build Time
Build times in our listings are estimates, not guarantees, unless a date is confirmed in writing for your order. Shipping time is in addition to build time. If you have a firm date, tell us when you order. We will consider it, but we do not guarantee rush work.
Delivery and Shipping
Free local delivery is available for orders of at least $75 within 25 miles of Charleston, West Virginia. Other orders are shipped within the United States, and the delivery or shipping charge is shown at checkout. We are a private shop, so we do not offer customer pickup, workshop visits, or installation.
Returns
A ready-made, nonpersonalized item may be returned within 30 days if it is unused and in its original condition. The customer pays ordinary return shipping, and original shipping is not refunded unless the return resulted from our error.
Custom and personalized pieces cannot be returned, because they are built to your details.
Damaged Pieces
If a piece arrives damaged in transit, contact us within a reasonable time with a photo of the damage and the packaging. We will work out the fix with you, which may be a repair, a replacement, or a refund, depending on the piece and the damage.
